Benchmarks:
We installed a Western Digital spindled drive and a Corsair SSD and ran the standard benchmarking tools and we did not see any degradation of data transfer speed outside of the expected. These same two hard drives were connected directly to the motherboard of a tower PC and bench marked again for comparison scores. As expected the Neutrino U3+ posted scores similar to other USB 3.0+ enclosures. What makes the Neutrino U3+ stand out from other enclosures would be the heat dissipation design.
Conclusion:
It is always tough to review a hard drive enclosure when that isn’t much to an enclosure in the first place. The Neutrino U3+ from AKiTiO does have a few features such as USB 3.0+ with the option of Firewire 800 too. Also the Neutino U3+ is made from aluminum which again there are countless enclosures on the market which are also made from the same material, but very few if any are designed with heat dissipation veins to assist with pulling the heat away from the enclosure in order to keep the hard drive cooler and extending the life of the drive.
