Rovio Mobile, the creator of heavily addictive game Angry Birds, had plans to release the game for mainstream game console platforms. As promised, Rovio Mobile’s Angry Birds is going to be available on major game consoles – starting with Sony PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 – later this week in the US and next week in Europe.
The Official PlayStation Blog noted that the PlayStation Minis section will get Angry Birds for the US and EU that could be playable on PSP and PS3 game consoles. Since neither of the game consoles offer touch-based interface, it would be interesting to see if the game offers the same level of enjoyment as on touch-based mobile phones.

A herd of green pigs steal eggs from the birds, when the birds discover that their eggs have been stolen they unleash their uniquely destructive powers to smash through the pigs’ castles. The Angry Birds PlayStation Mini game will have 63 levels. This game is pretty popular among mobile phone users on all major mobile platforms – Android, iOS, Symbian, MeeGo and even HP-Palm WebOS.

Angry Birds’ entry on gaming console seems to be part of a major plan of Electronic Arts that acquired mobile games publisher Chillingo last October. Soon we’ll get to see the game hit Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, as well as DS LL/3DS game consoles. Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio Mobile, hinted to WSJ that the Angry Birds game would be released for PC platform in Summer 2011. We also heard that Angry Birds 2 with more challenging tasks is already in the works. Let’s hope it releases soon.
