SUPERCOMPUTING 06 Continued

Here are more images for your viewing pleasure.

WINTEC was kind enough to show us their lineup of memory and we spotted thier FBDIMM's in machines across the floor. IBM, NEC, and SGI all had impressive showings with machines fully capable of rendering relaistic landscapes and 3D models in the blink of an eye. Number crunching and graphics rendering are two of the primary uses for machines in this magnitude of power. Several of the exhibits showed vendors with displays of their 3D tracking systems with the ability to track an object in space realtime via positional markets which communicate wirelessly to a terminal which records their movement and renders a realistic depiction of not only the object but also its position. AMD and Intel are present and both are showing Dell high end servers sporting their respective chips. I have to hand it to AMD for the flash and overall appeal of their booth, AMD also has on display servers representing all of their product lines. Speaking of product lines, it seems Tyan has penetrated the server and supercomputer market very well as examples of their new Typhoon product and existing server solutions were to be found in many of the exhibits.

Stay tuned as TWL will be bringing you continuing coverage of SC06.
