I decided to go through a decades worth of boxes full of old computer stuff when I came accross a very odd looking cable.

The cable has a standard USB connector on one end and an RJ45 connector on the other end.

Does anyone have a clue what this is for?

i've seen something like that at work... maybe it's for connecting a comp to the net and it doesn't have a nic.. so you do it through usb? or connecting a nic to a usb modem?

Im guessing its too a wireless bridge router, It plugs the RJ-45 into the wireless network bridge and then the other end plugs into the computer via usb.

(my guess)

(Router)<rj-45>-------------<usb>(computer)

how would that be a wireless router compared to any other box... hub/switch/reg router...?

no no

its for UPS

most of the modern UPS uses ethernet out to port its current status and information to the computer
its either turned into USB or Serial
depends

i have one, so i know
