wtf
post count whores, stop it!
lol
yeah im extra terrestrial as well as Evil Techie
$910 CAD after 14% of tax
before tax it was 800$ CAD
local Staples store
which is $742.6 USD
good price? cheapest i could find is probably newegg which has it for 780 USD
and then theres tax if you live in cali
anyways
so much tax in canada (other than alberta), buying can be painful

isn't it kind of weird to be the 2nd highest poster and call 2 others (one way below) post whores? .. i dunno.. but the only thing that makes a post whore to me is bringing back old/dead threads with pointless junk or starting new ones that are pointless junk.. the 's are close... but he started it..

10-30-2004, 01:56 PM
i dont think my Ti4200 128mb AGP4x will run any games at that rez
lol
1600x1200 is simply in the range of 6800+ cards or X800+ cards
sigh
im still using this card because im using the VIVO features quite often
i watch TV using my card thru a VCR acting as a TV tuner
and uses composite in into video card
smart eh?
hehehehe

a video card can play games in any resolution that the game itself, the video card, and the monitor will support. but on a 4600, yeah alot of them will suck
Jason425
10-30-2004, 02:19 PM
it's a 4200... and yea.. just hope it does lower res's better!
eviltechie
11-01-2004, 02:59 PM
my definition of being able to run is not to do like 1fps
lol
Jason425
11-01-2004, 08:32 PM
yea lol... good slide show, no? :)
eviltechie
11-02-2004, 02:42 AM
hahah yeah
but i didnt buy this 16ms 20.1" LCD to do slideshows
lol
that would be a big waste of money
i played some DC_Final today
didnt notice any ghosting
im pretty happy
played it at 1028x...
Jason425
11-02-2004, 09:45 AM
it's 1024 btw..so what vid card are you gonna buy
eviltechie
11-02-2004, 05:01 PM

if i buy one with only video out, then ill have to buy a TV tuner card...
im just not sure what to look for now
perhaps wait till X800 Pro or the 6800 256mb becomes cheap

11-02-2004, 08:33 PM
lol.. i'm all for being a bargain hunter.. but you don't even seem to think the 9800 is cheap, and it's getting pretty close to obselete...
eviltechie
11-02-2004, 09:14 PM
nah
not obsolete
just going mainstream
ill wait for $200 CAD 9800 Pro deals then
hehehe
Jason425
11-02-2004, 09:29 PM

yeah you're not going to notice any ghosting @ 16ms. I think that begins @ 25
StinkyMojo
11-03-2004, 04:23 PM
my samsung has 12ms :)
eviltechie
11-03-2004, 07:04 PM
i think it depends on how honest the manufacturers are
ive seen ghosting on some cheaper 16ms panels
but i trust viewsonic when it comes to panels at this price range
Jason425
11-03-2004, 08:29 PM
fyi: I think at any given MS ghosting is more noticable at bigger sizes... not sure on that..

well i can keep safe that 6800 GT OC of yours for the meanwhile
i promise to take good care of it ;)
hehehehe
looks like 6800GTs are getting stocked up again soon
i hope this will drop the price down more
whats a good card to buy with 300 CAD?
StinkyMojo
11-04-2004, 05:27 PM
hmm that's about $250.. You CAN get a 9800 for easily under $200, but if i were you i'd save up a bit more for an x800 Pro or 6800GT :)
christmas time will be a good bet for you to snatch up one of these suckers at a good price.

now that NVIDIA and ATI are on even grounds, it is really hard for me to choose which card to get
sigh
so IF i am to buy an X800 Pro or 6800GT, which one should i get?
ATI or NVIDIA?
i know this is gonna turn into one of those threads again but just btwn these 2 cards, which one wins?
no biased opinions please
i guess ill have to investigate a little more when HL2 comes out as well

6800GT is faster(slightly) in almot every game. it has 16 pipelines while the x800 Pro has 12, which is why you can get the x800 Pro considerably cheaper than the GT. The extra pipelines help greatly in next gen games starting with far cry. its your pick really, do you want an excellent video(GT) card or an above average video card(x800).. also dont forget that if you are a video editor stay away from the 6800 series. I just sold my 6800GT cause its too much power for my cpu.. so I'm considering an x800 Pro.

if you are a video editor stay away from the 6800 series
MPEG2 encoding and decoding acceleration works on the 6800 series cards which is fine for DVD quality video work. The problem is with encoding and decoding of advanced video formats like MPEG4 and WMV.

depends.. (oh and the gt is on some ups truck right now to cali..) after that rhetoric: here's the plain and simple take on it... if you are going to stick some good cooling on it AND are willing to take a risk on the gpu dying (heard it happening disproportionally alot compared to other cards from heat) AND aren't going to do WMV HD anything... then maybe the GT is for you.. sm3.0 helps too... but the ATI is a real solid pick too, esp with your current hardware....
ok maybe not so plain and simple.. but less bs...

i dont really want to OC too much as i want to keep the noise down
my comp is quiet enuf that i can hear my seagate 120GB HDD all the time
which one is quieter without OCing?
Jason425
11-06-2004, 03:00 PM
most likely the x800... when I took my bfg 6800 to almost ultra speeds (it couldn't do 400/1.1.. but could do 397/1.1... it would get up to 89*c in rthdribl.... I doubt it would last too long at that.. and I didn't want to run slower, so I got rid of it...

I couldn't believe it when I saw it.. forget OC'ing that baby... i've always fantazised about putting a fan on those fanless cards and seeing what they can do

i would put a big fan in that area and OC the heck out of it while keeping it quiet
man i now see what i should save up to
hehehehe
