What kind of error are you getting?
I have had troubles deleting some peoples temp internet files because they had too many an the computer kept crashing while trying to delete them.
If all else fails, just boot to dos, go to that dir and do a del *.*
keefe
Or if you have 256M or more of RAM put temp internet
on ramdisk use xmsdsk and start in autoexec 16m is enough
go to internetsettings and change size and drive, reboot
now you will hear less of the harddrive and temp internet
Is gone when you power down.
im not getting any error messages, they just wont delete. SPAM256MB RAM?? Try 32 for most of them and 64 for the privilaged (me).
*sigh*
ME: Can I have $20000 in next years budget to upgrade the network
BOSS: No.

go into PURE DOS mode. that's start->shut down -> restart in dos mode
then well you have to know dos a bit. you need to be in directory c:\windows\TEMPOR~1
and type del *.*
Well, since you have win95, it may deleteing them but win95 didn't always show them as deleted until you click 'view' then 'refresh' . Try that and see if they are gone.
If not then in addition to the above , try this:
A-) SPAMDo a search/find for *.tmp
when displayed, delete them all.
B-) Boot to DOS or get to a "C" prompt and enter:
deltree c:\windows\history SPAM( press enter)
Answer-Yes
At next prompt, enter:
deltree c:\windows\tempor~1 SPAM(press enter)
again say yes SPAM(This may take a little while)
At next "C" promt type- exit
it will then return to windows
C-) Under Tools/ internet options set Days to Keep History in memory to 0.
D-) under the Advanced tab/ Security select "Empty Temporary Internet files folder when browser is closed"
E-) If you want to control the size of the Temporary Internet Cache, go to Tool/ Internet Options /Temporary Internet Files/ Settings and set the size of your cache.
F-) IF you set it to 2megs, for example, IE will attempt to keep the TIFs under the 2meg mark by periodically purging old files.
Some of the above should delete all the TIF and help you get a handle on them for future maintenance.
Yeah I know about the dos thing, and since I was raised on DOS it aint a problem.
Problem is finding time to shut them down....seriously.
Ill try that suggestion yof your Jinx.
Ill let you all know how it goes.
I've put temp on ram on my 64m RAM 486Dx4
used 5 megs for ramdisk.
Yeah, there are bunch of utils to clean temporary IE files, but you can solve the the problem with one simple batch file.
You can include :
deltree/y c:\windows\temp
deltree/y c:\windows\tempor~1
deltree/y c:\windows\cookies
you can also delete history, recent docs, or NN temp the same way.
Of course you can delete temporary IE files from DOS mode only, so make shortcut for that file to reboot in DOS mode. Or add to autoexec.bat on every WS.
As simple as that ;)

also make sure when you delete the stuff, dont delete index, it can cause all sorts of problems
Not sure about index files.
Always deleted it and no probs so far ...
As far as I understand it contains all the crap, so if you ain't delete it ain't clean anything

Just checked the fresh Opera. It deletes all the crap with single click. Smart browser, highly recommended ;)

Does the newest version of opera support websites that have spaces in their filenames? SPAMI experiemented with an older version and that was one of the problems i had with it. SPAMMaybe we should just get all the stupid web programmers to learn to NOT HAVE SPACES IN FILENAMES. SPAMSorry, i got carried away...

i agree
I forgot if it is system mechanic or what but
it can be made to put this in autoexec.bat
so why not do it oneself ?
deltree c:\windows\temp
md c:\windows\temp
About Opera 6.01 again, seems like it often crashes under heavy load (~25 loading windows) in W2K. Anybody ?
