Default Videoconferencing on a network

I am deploying to the desert again soon, but will luckily have lan access this time. The govenrment blocks chat rooms, and I would like to keep in touch with my wife and child through video conferencing. Does anyone know of an easy way to do this. I have thought of trying to get around the security blocks for a chat program, but that could get me into trouble. I also have considered seting up a live webcam on both ends via personal webpages. Is this feesable? Finally I am allowed to take classes over there, does anyone know of cheap classes with conferencing my wife and I could sign up for to be able to chat? Thanks Chris

Using a website to stream video is definately possible, but I am not sure how easy it would be to get running. Do you know if Microsoft NetMeeting is allowed? That is fairly simple to set up.

The best minds in the world design the army cyber security.

Try yahoo or something or find a direct conferencing program.

First of all, before you go and try anything you need to discuss it with your chain of command and get approval. I did a tour in the Middle East assigned to INSCOM (Intelligence and Security Command) and trust me, if you try to send video from within a war zone, they will find out. An unauthorzed video camera connected to a military network sending video is not a good idea regardless of the intentions. Operations security can be comprimised and this IS how the Military will see it.

Be smart, be safe and god speed.
