Im finally going to take a crack at webdesign. I'm planning to register a domain.

I need hosting.

And I need to learn how to put my webpages up that I design in Macromedia or something. (I have no idea how to do this).

What is good hosting that's currently on the market?

you could just host your website stuff on your computer and just pay for a domain to point to your ip

You can get that type of service at dyndns.org, however, it's not something worth risking security-wise. Hosting it on your on computer, as mentioned by F1a5hP01ntX, is free. All you need is the Apache server. If you want to have it hosted on the web, just get free hosting from some place like FreeWebs. Once you register an account, uploading files is just like uploading files into the Downloads section or onto forums.

i use dyndnds, and my own server at home.

active-domain.com is pretty cool. you can change what server your domain points to, and it will take effect quickly.

hosting wise, i would just build my own server. the only hosting companies i've really looked into are iPowerWeb and EV1Servers.
