Please help. My husband had a set of Klipsch 5.1 pro media ultra speakers for his computer. I broke one of his speakers and the volume dial. I am looking to buy a set off ebay. There is one going right now really cheap but it says they do not power up, but the speakers work. All I need is one speaker and the dial... What would cause the speakers not to power up? I do not know anything about speakers and I do not want to ask my husband because I am doing this as a suprise. Thank you for your help

Christine

I'm guessing that a fuse in the sub blew...

I don't think it should be any problem if you bought the ones off eBay that don't power up and use it for parts. Should like a safe bet to me.

The parts contained in a computer speaker system are the crossover (separate frequencies into applicable cones), the amplifier, the drivers and the cones. If the system won't power up, it's probably the amplifier and possibly something with the crossovers. This will have nothing to do with the speakers themselves which only are composed of the drivers and cones.

With regards to the knob, if you broke the knob and only the knob, then you'll be fine, but if you broke part of it inside as well, then you might be in for some trouble.
