Default F-ing AIM SPAM

For about the past week, I've been getting dozens and dozens of IM spam messages from a few sites that are almost assuredly owned by the same parent company. I'm curious as to how the hell they got my screen name, and I haven't found much reference to other people getting this spam, so I figured I'd try to start the trend here. I'm not sure I can emphasize how annoying these messages are ... probably about one every 30 minutes ... so needless to say, when I wake up there's a large row of new messages. I've fairly effectively curbed my email spam (down from ~60 spam messages per day to maybe one a month), so now they come at my AIM. Perhaps even more annoying is that even if I signed up for their damn service, there's no way that'd get me off their AIM spam list .

Anyhow, the sites I've received spam from include:
  • ReallySexyLocals.com
  • SexyPeopleNow.com
  • LoversHangout.com
  • YourCityDating.com
  • LocalDate.org
  • LocalDatenow.com
  • LocalSexySingles.org
Any similar experiences?

Did you read my post? Email isn't the problem. It's AIM spam. There's no spam folder.

I used to get about 1 or 2 a day, but I don't get anymore since I've not had time to log on any more. I log on once about 3 or 4 weeks, and now, when I am on for extended periods of time, I don't get any. They probably have some sort of tracker for undelivered messages that reports if there's been no activity for a certain period of time. This would allow them to save processing time by not IMing abandoned S/N's. You might want to try using a different S/N for a while, or try to stay on invisible for a few weeks.

dude, that sucks, my aim makes a loud lionroar noise when i get a new message, and if i forget to hit mute before going to bed, that'd wake me up. I'd be seriously pissed. My best guess is that you were browsing some site controlled by the parent of these sites, and they exploited some browser flaw that gave up your username. I believe something like this is possible in windows (not sure which browsers), i don't know about macosX or linux. been to any new porn sites lately :P
