Im sorry to bother anyone

I need help my compaq v4000 conked out lastnight. it said i was missing NTDLR. It was on the old school computer screen (black and white) i have mangaged to getting my xp restore disc to laod but it the it still wont let me do anything. can anyone give me and idea or a remedy to help me get on my laptop :confused:

Those discs are meant to restore XP, but they generally don't touch the OS files, just the user data and program files. If you can get a hold of a regular Windows XP setup disc, or one that contains an i386 folder, then use the instructions outlined here (http://www.techwarelabs.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=12857).
