What types of viruses can you contract if you have weblog set up and have an area within it for people to post? Is there anything I should be watching out for?

If someone is linking to a file, or if your system isn't up to date with patches, you should be careful.

What language is the code in? Did you code it yourself? If it is in PHP, I can surely help you secure your site.

could you give some pointers for site security in this type of situation? It would be cool to hear about that.

If you just run something like wordpress, you should not have any issues. People can not natively run any kind of programs there. Although they just did issue a new security update.
