Default Kiddie Porn Viewers in UK could lose credit cards.

I don't really agree with governments taking extra actions, but in this particular case I am willing to make an exception.

Quote:
COURTS COULD be given the power to confiscate the credit cards of anyone convicted of viewing child pornography online, under proposed changes to UK legislation.

The additions to the Data Protection Act and are being debated in the Mother of Parliaments today.

A report from the Children's charity NCH suggested the prospect of losing a credit card "could be seen as more of a deterrent than some current sentencing options."

The charity has been lobbying for the changes for three years to improve the targeting of more affluent middle class paedophiles.

If the amendments to the Act are passed, those convicted of viewing child porn on websites would have their details passed to banks and credit card companies. It is not known whether the changes would allow credit card companies to share the information.

The offence may be restricted to the card that was used to pay for access to websites, and the offender would not necessarily be stopped from possessing other credit cards

I don't really understand why the two would help...but for those kind of people, they should get much worst than losing credit cards...

Yes, I think they need to do whatever they can to stop these sick people. That is just very wrong and there are way too many people out there that enjoy that. I guess anything needs to be tried to stop them.

Interesting approach. I don't really see how it would be a major help and seems pretty weak to be honest.
