ok, folks, i got the mouseman dual optical today. itīs a funny piece of mouse though it has a resolution of 800 dpi and improved tracking due itīs dual red high power led optical sensors. but who likes red anyway. ok, so i got two uv those ultra(neat)bright blue 5mm leds that can bring up two 2700 mcd (each ofg them was ībout 10 $) and removed the covering uv the mouse. i noticed that the leds were housed in smll plastic SPAMthings (i think to secure the right direction for the beam) so they were a bit tricky to get out (of the housing and the pcb) but i mangaed to anyway (shall anybody say raw brutality doesnīt help). then i soldered the blue ones in which took me about 40 seconds each. screw it together again, et voila: it really worx. i take this as evidence that the sensor doesnīt need a certain light spectrum, though you could SPAMuse green leds, yellow or even white ones.
i also have to say that i recommend that mouse for moddin cause 1.) itīs SPAMa good mouse 2.) the smoked plastic base looks good with every color ya coose. 8)
iīm looking forward to recive ya thoughts ībout it ;)
another good work down there in the

how much is those mouseman's price? and what about putting dual colord leds like radioshacks orange/green, except with better colors.

where can you get mousemans for cheap? that other cordless one is last years model and not optical

i don't know how to get them in amiland, but i have a question: do you wanna put in one dualcolored led or do you wanna get the dual optical and put in different colors? never tried different colors, but since the sensor seems to take even IR it shouldn't be a prob. green and orange would look rather hard, but i don't think, it is the best match, if i hadn't modded mine before, i think i would use white ones 'cause i could get some with 5000 mcd and the light of white leds is a rather cool, cold-looking light. 8) the cordless mouseman is also available in an optical version

what would be sick if you had a light changer every second it woudl go from blue green red

this is not possible, or possible, but far too expensive :'(

would be very cheap if it is mechanical and a winding thing. very simple like that. maybe even just a switch would be cool. is there any extra power cuz with a capacitor you could have it constantly charging up and then switching the color, charging up, switching and on and on and on.
or maybe even a motor but that is way too much power right there.
the $21 cordless mouseman is last years model: not optical. SPAMthat sux

I often find myself wondering why they don't manufacture things like this

what would be nice is if they manufactured premoded shit (little things) because if it was big things modding wouldn't b fun nemore ;D

i'll try to build two 3 mm leds in a cheapo optical mouse and make a color switch, thats a good idea, but i'm sceptic if the smaller leds have enuff power for the sensor ::)

if not can't you put double led?

the prob is, that you need some power and not a 10mcd weakass dual color led :P
