I wonder if the tiny ground up coral in toothpaste is acting as a heat transferer.?

Interesting. Does it get all crusty?

Yeah, i would think after a while, the toothpaste would become old as eventually form into power substance, disinigrating off as it fell... you'd probably just have to recoat it every few weeks or something

I'll be keeping the toothpaste off of my Athlon for now but maybe on my K6-2

Now I never want to stifle experimentation, but I feel that I'll stick with my Arctic Silver 3. SPAM$6.00-7.00 for enough to do about a years worth of CPU's that cost hundreds.

Agreed but I would like to hear how it works out. Thats pretty interesting. i would like to have pics of that and specs to put on the web site.

Yeah, same for me. I wanna know how much the temperature increased when it went on. One thing that should work well is ball-bearing grease. But like rivergod, I won't try that, $6 is worth Arctic Silver.

On a side note: Cheapo should set up an account as he has posted quite often for a guest.

I would also. SPAMI mean, the experiment has been started, I'm curious now. SPAMIts always good to have alternatives, who knows, you might need to do an emergency heatsink change, and have nothing but your overnight kit and a screwdriver. SPAMOh, and your towel.

I have always wondered what the first guy was thinking when he looked at a lobster and said: SPAM"I'm gonna eat that!" SPAMA brave man indeed. ;D SPAMSo I gotta ask you, what possessed you to attempt this experiment? SPAMPlease understand, I'm not being critical, I'm just really curious. ???

I tried it because real heatsink compound sort of feels like toothpaste and i thought it would be worth a try since i was tired of having my cpu underclocked.

that's pretty crazy! SPAMi like it though...yeah i wanted in on pics as well, but thats ok. SPAMAlso, tell us when the toothpaste lets up on ya, it would be nice to know the longitivety of the paste. SPAMI gotta ask, what kinda toothpaste do you use. SPAMI ask these kinda question because i am kinda weird, trust me i have had my fair share of comments...
