That thing is pretty cool! SPAMIs there a tiny Sandisk inside of it or what medium is the data stored on?

The data is stored much like a flash card from a camera - it's almost a tiny sandisk with a tiny flash card. This method lets it get so small because it has no moving parts - this also amounts to less chance of data corruption and whatnot. They are supposed to keep data for a very very long time.

The best part about the drive though is that if your running 2K or ME you don't even need drivers - it just installs instantly. Can't beat that for a portable storage solution. The folks at http://www.easydiskusa.com tell me they will have a 1gb model soon. 1gb of storage in your pocket or on your keychain - now that would seriously rock:)

:DI have just read your easydrive review. SPAMI have a much better device for you. It is a Microtech ZIO! compact flash reader. SPAMThe only negative compared to the easy drive is that it is slightly larger, not much but slightly. SPAMOn the positive side it is only $49 when a sams club simpltech 64M compact flash card is added (+$49) SPAMyou get a 64 meg unit for $98. SPAMThe second advantage is that you can upgrade the size or add additional capacity by simply buying a larger compact flash or even a microdrive! SPAMThirdly when you are not using the media for the microdrive it can be used in a MP3 player or digital camera. try that with the easy drive! SPAMYou may want to try this one out instead. 8)

I have seen these around also and they are pretty nice.

A problem I see is that the small loose flash cards are very easy to damage and lose - where is the easydisk is a bit more versatile. I have several easydisk type drives now and I haul them around on keychains and in my pockets - I have dropped them and stepped on them with no damage or loss of data - the only thing I haven't tried is washing one.

It is also smaller - nicely fitting on a keychain or around your neck. I carry mine comfortably in my pants pocket.

One other thing to note is that these flash card readers like you mention usually aren't truly plug and play and require drivers.

Personally i'm going to try to get hooked up with a 256mb or 512mb easydisk.
