Apple's QuickTime 6 is the first media player to feature support for AAC, the next gen MPEG 4 audio format (*.mp4 music files). "QuickTime 6 delivers the world’s first complete media solution for creating, streaming and viewing MPEG-4 content," said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The software supports Macs and PC's and produces more efficient compressed audio than mp3 with almost uncompressed sound quality. The video is also higher quality on a broader range of bandwidth.

Microsoft has released the beta of Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows XP. The beta build 1050 has many eye-catching features: To comply with the settlement with the 9 states, MS has introduced "Set Program Access and Defaults" in the Control Panel to let users hide MS middleware (like the much disputed Internet Explorer) Many security flaws have been addressed through a 2-month analysis It also includes updated versions Windows Media Player and Messenger, and has Internet Explorer SP1 The have also "blacklisted" Volume License Keys to prevent illegal copies from getting upgraded

Do you know if there is an Mpeg 4 codec for Winamp out? Just in case I have to download QT6 to try out Mpeg4, I got the addy (address) for QuickTimeInstaller.zip (http://qtinstall.info.apple.com/scarlett/us/win/QuickTimeInstaller.zip). The link is directly to the download so you don't have to give Apple your email address and stuff. Just don't tell them. he he he lol.
