Whats the best 3d PCi Card

My little brother has a computer and he wants to get a 3d card for it, its the intel i810 chipset so it has no agp slot, I was thinking that the voodoo 5 would be the best card for him, anyone know of a better PCI 3d card?

Alot of the Gfore 2 cards have very good performace and they are resonably priced

Yes but I have heard they take a huge hit when going from agp to pci, the voodoo series of cards were really just all pci cards with and agp interface so not much performance is lost going from agp to pci, as I understand it the det 3 drivers for geforce cards unloaded the geometry info into the agp memory to open up local card memory for textures etc. has anyone compared a geforce based pci card to a voodoo 5 pci card. also I would like to know if the kyro II cards are avalible pci and the performance differance

hercules make a great geforce2 pci card................
pci vid cards are becoming harder to find these days (unless you want a 8mb slooow office type thing)
the kyro2 beat a geforce2 mx in benchies, but i dont know if hercules make one in pci (but i dont see why not)

I have seen a 32MB ati RADEON in action. It is pretty good. I have compared it to several other PCI cards and the ATI outperforms them. It is also not too terribly priced. :)

SPAMThe ATI Xpert 128 PCI is a good card for a reasonable price. Although it's only 16 meg it works well for the average user. I have install 5 in machines that didn't have an apg slot. No problems so far.

the hercules 4000XT (kyro chip ) is available with 64 mb ram and pci interface, this would surely be a good solution. If you can get a voodoo 5000 for a better price than the kyro, take it. with i810 chipstet, the computer shouldn´t be slower than a celeron 500 or am i wrong? if it is slower, take a mx, the t&l engine will boost performance very well, especially slower machines can take good advantage from this.

It appears this is an older message, but if your still looking for a card, a Voodoo3 3000 is great. SPAMI had this before I got my GF2 GTS, and I got as good or better performace then my geforce...

if you like games that support glide you´´re lucky with a voodoo. playin CS ,heh? then go for 3dfx
