HI All,
I know everyone keeps saying that RAM is expensive. SPAMJust wait until after Christmas. SPAMIt sould go back down to about $0.15-$0.20 per meg starting at mid January

That is usually what happens with all computer prices during the x-mas season. SPAMIt usually goes back down around jan-feb.

cheers...

Well, I'd say that in general RAM isn't about to get or be expensive any time soon. SPAMI just remember when one of my more ignorant friends wanted to buy some ram. SPAMI offered him a 128 MB PC100 SDRAM DIMM for about $60, and he thought that was great (he didn't know that much about buying anything online, and it was probably about $90ish in stores). SPAMNeedless to say, I was able to get 256 MB PC133 SDRAM for the same price online. SPAMLet's just keep this between you and me though ;).

I walked into Harvey Norman (Aussie Electrical and Furniture chainstore) and thy were selling 128meg sticks from over $200...and if you buy a PC from them you can get a 128meg upgrade for "Only" $120.

Huh?? I told them I buy 128MB sicks online for $25, and lets just say they wernt happy that a potential customer actually knew something..lol.

Old stuff like 72-pin 16-32-64 meg FP or EDO I find expensive
any body have any good suggestions
Searching for a 16meg FP for my IBM and thouse have
12 chips on them 4 + 8 or 6 + 6 .
About computer stores, looked at a monitor for a friend
who had two places look at after it turned black after she
had watered flowers and dusting off and stuff, both said
she needed a new one, SPAMthat it was beyond repair
well I found the problem, while dusting she had managed to
turn the wheel for brightness to all black SPAM:o
it was in perfect condition and she is still using it.

Pricing for the older memory varies and sometimes can be pretty spendy.

You can check out my database for current pricing. On items that say call, drop me an email of what you're looking for and I can find the latest prices for you.

For 72 pin you're looking between $50.00 & $200.00 depending on what you want.

Yeah RAM has gotten way to expensive now. :'(

the reason for that is explained here: manufacturers made too much of it for an expected demand that didn't come. then they cranked the prices lower and lower making competetive computer companies increase what they put in their comps. then all of a sudden the supply went dry and RAM manufacturers can charge what they want.

Actually, the prices are damn low, cause SDRAM is gonna be history soon. Like CRT monitors are pretty cheap, cause TFT is gonna rule soon SPAM:P
P4 mobos works with RDRAM only (as far as I know), and I've already installed it on (CC820 ?) ~2 years ago, so grab some SDRAM before it's price skyrockets like it happened with EDO ;)

Also get spare cause if your SDRAM has no lifitime waranty you'll waste bunch of money to replace it soon ...

Hey if you know where you can still get RAM for cheap, let me in on it Chef

@ Crucial.com, outpost.com, OEM places, it has all gone up... only the more expensive places have stayed the same. example u cud get 256MB @ crucial for $29US, now 85$US.

Also I only use these types, higher end RAM: Crucial, Kingston, PNY and Corsair

Can't help you, cause I buy it from company used to work for. SPAMAnd I usually upgrade, not buy.

I use any RAM that has lifetime warranty & works with specific machine (cause there is no such a thing as perfect memory, but perfect combination)

I also avoid to buy HW from Internet, because you never know who and when is going to replace/fix it ;)

Well Im still paying next t nuffin for my RAM.
Chef, P4 mobos now take SDRAM DDR and Rambus (RDRAM). SPAMSDRAM gives crap performance.
DDR is the best price/performance comprimise
RDRAM is SPAMstill the best, due to the higher bandwidth and is great if your using applications that need it, however most ppl get by fine with DDR.

yeah, that's on the VIA cihpsets for p4's and that kinda made intel and rambus mad. lol :)

rambus is better for graphics editing or databases, etc., where there is a lot of data.

DDR is way better for gaming or smaller size programs, though because it handles stuff in bigger chunks in a single clock cycle. ;D
