Hey,

I just got my new computer the other day that is a P4 with rdram... SPAMI am basically wondering what the advantages are to this as opposed to sdram. SPAMI mean, do the pros out weigh the cons like its expensive price tag. SPAMAlso, while reading my manual, I realized that the installation and upgrading of memory is slightly different than what i had expected, though I'm not exactly sure how to upgrade it exactly. SPAMThanx in advance for any feedback.

Mike

Well, some thoughts in general about the RAMBUS ram, when upgrading, you will need to add in pairs. I have a similar problem, mine came with 128mb, SPAMtwo each 64 cards. There are two dummy cards occupying the other two slots, I can't find 64mb cards, so I'll need to add two more 128mb cards to replace the dummies. I really don't need that much added at 70 USD each, so for I hadn't yet done anything. SPAMJust wish it wasn't so expensive.

I thought that is what i was supposed to do, but there is know way that i wanna spend that kinda money right now to get an additional 256 MB. SPAMThanx again for the feedback.

wizbones, that is a good article. I think most if not all pentium 4's use rambus.

that article is exactly what the story is. Rambus travels between 700 and 900mhz varying among sticks. SDRAM is between 66 and 133mhz.

with the VIA chipsets for P4's you can use any of the three types of RAM. that is too cool and should be also used in heir chipsets for AMD
