Hopefully that will be enough sys. info to solve this problem, the problem being:

Whenever any brand USB webcam initializes within a few minutes (random amounts) all USB devices stop working, until I reboot the system.

I have been building my own systems for over 10 years so I am not a newbie at this stuff. But as I said at the beginning, even the techs at Intel and Creative ( reason for Creative support forthcoming) haven't been able to figure this out.

I have narrowed it down to a conflict between the cam, the Creative Soundblaster Audigy X-Gamer card, and the O.S.. The reasoning behind this is that the last time I reloaded my system I loaded my hardware drivers 1 at a time, rebooting after each install, to find out which 1 was conflicting w/ the webcam. The cam worked fine 'till the last install which was the soundcard,(tried just drivers w/out software also). Once it went in the problem arose. The O.S. plays a part in this also because I didn't have this problem w/ Win98se, but the same problem happened w/ Win2k (ie; base O.S. for XP).

Well this has been a hell of a long request, but I feel it's necessary seeing that I haven't been able to get this solved by any so-called "Professional-Techs".

If you would prefer you can e-mail any help to me @:
jasonaballard@hotmail.com

Thank You in Advance.

P.S. All devices (including motherboard and O.S.) have the most current updates applied to them.

Whenever > ANY < brand USB webcam initializes within a few minutes (random amounts) all USB devices stop working, until I reboot the system.

this is a key phrase
When some USB device plugged in it activates the driver installed for it. All USB devices stop working after you connect the camera. Since all other USB devices worked properly before it means that the driver installed for USB camera conflicts with generic WinXP USB driver. Which is used by mouse, joystick, whatever you have installed, but not USB camera, that uses separate driver for itself + special USB driver/patch.
there is probably nothing you can do except for somehow removing generic XP USB driver. I think it is incompatibility between WinXP & webcamera USB drivers.

Good luck
Chef

p.s. what's happening when you plug in the webcam before turning the comp on ?
