Welcom Aemon_
I haven't seen it done but there are a few issues that would have to be worked. SPAMI think diffrent laptop's handle the video card to display diffrently. SPAMWhen I had my laptop repaired they talked about the inverter being changed. SPAMI'm not sure if this is a power inverter or a signal inverter. SPAMThough I'm sure the information is out there somewhere. SPAMAlso yes I figure you could use the touch screen. SPAMI worked for a company that used touch screens SPAMon the medical instruments they built. SPAMThe worst problem with that is writing or finding software that takes advantage. SPAMAs of right now I know of few if any programs that would allow windows to communicate with such a device. SPAMAll of the programs my ex-employer used were completly coded by the company at the application level. SPAMThe interface is normally simple enough. SPAMIt's usually over a serial connector at least in the normal monitor world. SPAMThat sound like a really interesting idea and I'm sure we all like to hear any information you find elsewhere. SPAMYou may also want to post this in the VOIDED WARRANTY board at the bottom of the first page. SPAMIt sound like their style of modding.

yo savage, i think you are a bit too fond of us :D. but that inverter thing would be interesting. aren't TFT screens EL illuminated? thus would describe the inverter thing, and i don't think that those devices need a signal inverter. theoretically, the use the same method building up the pic from upper left to lower right, so it shouldnt be a signal inverting one. but i dunno, tell me if i'm talkin shidd ::)

So far I've had to add that to my further research list. SPAMAnd that's a long damn list. SPAMI hope that there is any easy way to do this though it sound really kick ass.

there are 3 ways:
get the kit which includes a lcd monitor and the plugs for a composite source (RCA or S-Video) abour 200$ for a 4"lcd kit
there's an adaptor which connects to the plug and costs also 200$
or there's the hard way which i'm trying to figure out: which wires are what? which is green, red, blue, vert+, vert- and so on.

figuring it out the hard way may be a die-hard for the screen or ya hardware, but i prefer the hard way too 8)
