ok, end of june i'm gonna build my new rig. i already have case and quite a bit of moddin stuff, but no hardware yet. since i was busy and jobbed alot, i gotta ass-full of SPAMmoney to buy freakin rockin hardware. the question is whadd! i have thought about:

cpu: Intel P4 Northwood (socket 478 ) 1,8 ~ 2,0 GHz
mobo : abit TH7II (maybe raid)
ram: 2x 128Mb Kingston or Samsung RDRAM PC800 (which one is better)
gra-ca : Gainward GF3 TI200 Jumbo Golden Sample 128Mb

maybe a nice hdd or two.

the most important thing is:
i wanna do some really really serious overclocking, watercooling first and maybe later a vapochill 8) :o ;D

whaddayathinkof? any tips?

Biggest tip - ditch the P-4 and go with a Athlon XP, IMHO. SPAMCheck around and try to compare the ge-force 4 budget cards with the high end ge-force 3. SPAMthe 4's are supposed to rock some serious ass but I've yet to see one myself.

i intended to build an athlon xp system a long time, but all i want for my new rig is brute overclocking, and thus the p4 rox, ya can raise the fsb from 100 to reasonable 150 mhz or higher and gain mass of performance, and i think so i can let other peeps with xp systems melt from greed. i own a amd system now and i really like it, but i gotta proove for myself that intel can outperform amd. to the geforce, any serious tests or reviews around ya know?

pcworld.com had a review on the GF4 MX a while back and it performed better than the GF3 on almost everything. it even beat the crap out of the GF4 TI's on resolutions lower than 1600 X 1200. if you got enough money i would totally seal your case and put all the cooling on an external compartement and just use water cooling to go into the system its self. solve the probelem of dust.
