Hey guys, help me out here.

"hey guys, i've recently upgraded my computer from celeron 766 (soyo mobo wid via chipset) to duron 900 (ECS mobo with via chipset). When i had my old celeron, i could not use AGP slot because 3d cards, such as geforce or hercules prophet would giv me no video at all when i turned on the computer(ATI worked but it froze my comp all the time)
I've been using voodoo3 on PCI and it has been annoying me ever since i got it. So i decided to upgrade my computer wid a new mobo and a cpu (so i can use geforce 2) when i upgraded my computer, it still wont give me any video, without beep signals,(i hear the cpu fan, cd-rom LED or Floppy drive LED is always on) I am pretty sure its not a faulty mobo OR ram OR CPU becuz before i got duron + mobo, i tried 3 other motherboards, which i returned now, thinkin they were all faulty the only thing i suspect now is my Power Supply. its 200 watt power supply, if u've got a solution or was in a similar situation please help me~ thanks"

This was a question from one of my friends. There are some smart guys here in the dealing with Motherboards in such from what I've read. Thanks guys.

I think you have it there, the power supply. SPAMThats the first thing I'd check/pitch. ;) SPAMA 300W or more would be better as its good to have an extra watt or two, instead of pulling all it has. SPAMEnermax or Antec are two brands I like. SPAMI have had one bad mobo out of 12 or 13. SPAM(Not counting the one I recently bounced a screwdriver off of while changing heatsinks. DOH!) SPAMI'll bet ya the biggest beer in Edwardsville its your Power supply.

soyo mobo wid via chipset sounds familiar, but anyway, the first thing to check when it beeps is memory chip. about 90% from my experience caused by memory, but it also depends on how it beeps, so can be anything. As usually remove one thing at time to recover the corrupt component.

And there are these BIOS's that say what's broken, what a sweet thing (and on 6 langs too)

geforces draw quite a bit of power, not including the fact that amd duron/ath usually work with a minimal of 250. Try to reseat the video card. then try to reseat the ram. then kick it a few times, then throw it out the window

it does sound like a power problem if it is hardware. SPAMone ques., did you reinstall everything? if you didn't then if there is a problem lying in your registry, or in your installation of something, then it wont go away no matter what you do to hardware

just noticed : or Floppy drive LED is always on

it's not a good sign, if floppy led is always on that means floppy cable broken or connected wrong way, may cause beeps on some mobos

if the floppy light is always on, that usually means you connected the cable upside down

I know that the solid lite means the ribbon's incorrectly connected, but that wouldn't prevent the system from posting.

The system would conitnue to boot normally you just wouldn't be able to use the floppy.

I've had a reversed floppy cable halt boot-up. SPAMI can't remember if it made it past the post, but it would not go into windows. floppy drive fail 40 or something like that.SPAMI would reverse the cable and see if the stops the floppy light issue, but I'm with you wizbones, I don't think that is the major issue here.

Yeah come to think of it. I've had that same thing happen on a few systems I worked on
