I am not sure they shoul dbe there, but they are. If Microsoft is considering to make a unix based OS, then it is a good idea to be at LinuxWorld.

While I'm sure there are numerous fanatic anti-Microsoft individuals, if they're smart enough to use and support Linux, they're probably smart enough not to start a big scene. Some of the comments about how "Microsoft shouldn't be at the convention" seemed fairly stupid, in my opinion. Kazuhito Okawa claims, "Microsoft isn't in the Linux business," but in fact they're probably the biggest player in the Linux business in the world. Seeing as Microsoft manufacturers software, which needs to run on operating systems (which, by the way, Linux is), Microsoft makes operating systems, especially server operating systems (which Linux is, as noted before), and Linux is on the IT market, Microsoft is going to be quite involved in Linux. Just because Microsoft competes with Linux, doesn't mean it "isn't in the Linux business."
I don't think i'm thinking entirely clearly, and I don't have my eyes open (it's 2:45 AM, and I was at a LAN party last night), so there's a distinct possibility I wasn't speaking coherently in this post. If this is the case, please feel free to disgregard all I've just said.

you made a good arguement actually, there are too many wannabe anti-M$ fanatics who just grope about M$ just to fit in, or too many who grope about M$ because they're M$ and ignore the wider picture
