Go to www.rage3d.com and then go to Rage 3d tweaks and download the Rage3d tweaker 3.6.
This version is just released for the Radeon 9000 and 9700. No better anywhere for any Radeon vid card.

you should have gotten a 8500.

I must agree, the 8500 DDR128 is quite a bit more powerful than the 9000 Pro. But since he did not purchase the 8500. We'l just have to help him on the 9000.

Click here (http://www.nvidia.com/) if you want to know how to get the best performance.

I would not be sticking your own foot in your own mouth if I were you. The Radeon 9700 Pro outperforms the Ti4600 by THREE times in higher resolutions.
Even in lower resolutions and no AA no AF, the R300 still outperformed the Ti4600 by over 30%.
The screen clairity and color was so beautiful with the R300 just like all Radeons.
The Ti was just like all nVidia's second spot.
You may say just wait till the NV30, by then the R350 with .13die will be ready to compete.
It is doubtful the NV30 will be able to keep up the pace.
You might as well admit it.
ATI is eating nVidia for lunch and will continue the pressure for the future.

Don't take my word for it, go to my website and read the compareson between the two. This was put up by HardOCP. There are some other reveiws by reputable firms also. I don't put up reviews form sites that are half ashed.

Dude, I wouldn't own an ATI card if they were the only video card maker left on the planet. I would assume put in an old Cirus Logic 512K board then put one of those pieces of crap in my system. They have always been shit, are shit, and will always be shit. Period.

I've been a Systems Admin for over a decade now and every time I've had to install ATI cards I've had nothing but problems. They have absolutly no driver support what-so-ever. Never have and from what I can tell never will.

O lord, lets not even mention ATI's deception when they shipped cards with lower clock speeds then advertised. We all know they would NEVER do anything deceptive as that...

http://www.tech-report.com/columns/damage/2001q4/ati/

If you don't believe me.. then read the following links and come back and try convince me they are worth buying...

http://www.3000ad.com/archives/soapbox_102501.shtml

http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/

I think those articles only emphasize my own expierence with ATI which only goes to prove my point.

*EDIT*

With that being said, I have to concede that ATI "does" make excellent hardware but without driver support, the cards end up being landfill fodder. They have been and are still notorious for crappy drivers so therefore I have to say the card as a whole is not worth a penny to me.

Well I own my own computer building business.
I at least try to sell ATI Radeon video cards to every customer.
Most will go along with my suggestions.
Some say they just want the nVidia stuff.
Yes I will get the vid card they want and install it.
I have more trouble with nVidia stuff than any video card in the whole world.
You may say what you want about ATI, I will come back and tell you, you don't know what you are talking about.
The Radeon is slowly taking over a huge part of the video market.
Getting more % daily.
I am older than you, been building this stuff longer than you, and have more insurance than you.
But I don't use vulgar words nor do I curse at anyone.
I can see you are a hot head, that blows off a lot at the mouth.
Several years ago, I told a person such as you, if you would put a hose in your mouth and over the top of the carb on your car.
You would have a built in blower.
Don't know how much # you could sustain, but for short bursts probably do some good.

Don't take my word for it.. read the links and judge for yourself.

How the hell do you know how old I am and what difference does that make? I've been building computers since the AT's came out. (do you even know when that is?) And please tell me what the hell insurance has to do with it.

Yo, if you want to convince your customers they are getting the best product for their money, that's on you man. I'm all for the cliche' that there's a sucker born every minute.

I can see you are a hot head, that blows off a lot at the mouth.

I speak the fact and have provided sources to back it up.. what have you provided? Nothing but your opinion which counts as squat unless you have something to back it up. You claim to give your customers the best but yet you say they request nvidia products... shouldn't this tell you that your customers know more than you and maybe you should at least look into it?

I don't suppose it matters how old you are in days, years, you act like a two yr old.

I gave you the backup, go to my site and read the news reveiws posted under the forums and hardware stuff.

So I would suggest you take a cold shower, or just jump in the pool maybe you will cool off that way.

How so? Plz elaborate.

If your wondering, I'm 35 years old.

No thanks, I'll just have a cold beer thank you. :wavey:

BTW... Why is it when I click on your web site it tries to send a program called ea.exe? Is that some sort of trojen your trying to covertly send to unknowing surfers?

so i tried both nvidia n ati - nvidia sucks in quality REALLY SUCKS BAD I can't read on my screen in 1152x864. Ati is a decent video card in that respect. And about 3d.. it works just fine .

I've had expirence with both ATI and Nvidia. Each has their problems, and advantages.

On my dads system, I couldent get the 40.xx drivers to load the Gf2 Pro (Win2k, 98 loaded 40.xx fine), but the 30.81 whql worked just fine.

In my college hardware class, we had ATI Rage's for the systems we were building (Duron 800's on MSI K7T Turbo 2's). I got the drivers to load on 2 systems(out of 3). On the third one, the drivers would load, but windows would never load correctly with them.

Radeon 9700 Pro beats GF4 ti 4600 cause it's built to compete with NV 30, not NV25

I don t care if ati or nvidea is faster as long as they KEEP GETTING faster
, DIG ?

Yes ati drivers are an issue , (that is suppose to be improving) I'm sure ATI is aware of it!!!

BUT , I HAVE A BIG ASS BEEF WITH REVEIWERS!!!!!!

Why is every ATI 9000 review done with a 128 MB version against other 64MB cards.

Now i KNOW that u can get Ati 9000's in 128 MB SO TEST IT THAT WAY!!!!

They are also available in 4x and 8x AGP (also PCI lol).

I say this because with the likes of BF 1942 and DOOM 3 (is rumoured to require 80 MB for texures) , are going to make 64 MB cards as useful as a toilet paper life raft!!!!

I feel much better now

You forget AGP Apeture...so 80-64 = 16MB to transfer in/out of RAM...that's not much. 64M won't become worthless.

What kills me Doom3 is that fact that about every texture is bumpmapped. They better have an option to turn BM off

still

things such as Code Creature demands as much memory as possible
especialy that new "Dawn" demo they showed for GeforceFX :)

Okay, usually with ATI drivers.. on MY system, if you follow every single step, they've never failed me, and i'm on Win XP

You know, it really doesn't matter. Both companies make good hardware. Yes, nVidia based cards are easier to install, and yes, ATI based cards have better performance in the same class. It really comes down to personal preference. Ford vs. Chevy, Fender vs. Gibson, Mustang vs. Spitfire. Who cares? As long as you're happy with the way your system runs all the arguments are academic. I use both ATI and nVidia, and the only video card I ever had that I hated was a 4Mb PCI S3 Virge DX, running under NT4.

Soyo Dragon Ultra (KT333)
AMD Athlon XP 2100+
1280 Mb Crucial PC2100
GeForce 3 Ti 200 (for now)
Audigy 2 Platinum
WD 30Gb (x2, RAID 0)
