ok. I'm having trouble finding this. from what I can tell the EPoX 8K5A2+ is running award 6.0 bios.

after a search. I hit epox's site and got a server too busy. but from the text in the search query on google, it might have something to do with agp. I don't know it's a long shot

check the mobo's manual it should be in there

well im there on the site

www.epox.com.tw

dont forget the .tw because its a taiwanese company

im reading the manual for u now
it can be found here
http://www.epox.com.tw/file/8K5A2_%2b_N.PDF

for some reasons, i cant copy that part of the manual

but post code 25 is a reserved hex code for something as the manual says

Thanks for the assistance and advice. I have had similar problems when trying to get to the EPoX website. The manual does say that the specific code is "reserved." I may check on the AGP issue and try reseating the graphics card a few times. I will let you know the outcome of my endeavors.

After unsuccesfully trying to reseat the graphics card, I am going to see if therein lies the problem and try using an older GeForce 2 that is my current system. The problem may be in the card itself, and not the motherboard. I just received this motherboard after RMAing the first one for a different POST hang up, so it is unlikely that I would have gotten two bad ones. Then again, maybe I am just unlucky. We will see. Thanks again everyone for advice.

As an update, I used the old GeForce 2 I had, and the computer started to boot up just fine. Now pulling the old switcheroo, the GeForce 4 boots fine on my old mobo (3 + yrs old I have no idea what it is). Now I am thinking that maybe a BIOS flash to the most current BIOS for the board is needed. I think I am going to boot up and install the OS and hardware and then flash the BIOS and see if that helps. If that does not work I will contact EPoX about the problem. It does seem though that there may be a compatibility problem. Thanks again for all input.

yeah a bios update may fix things
also see if u can get the AGP driver for the mobo chipset

An AGP driver wouldn't have any bearing on a POST issue. That'd just be if he was having problems once he got into the OS.

Good news. The BIOS update did in fact fix things up. After installing the OS with the GeForce 2 installed, I got the most recent BIOS, and flashed the BIOS, and then installed the GeForce 4 and rebooted, and everything worked fine. I guess this indicates that anyone else who tries to set up a system withe an EPoX 8K5A2+ and a GeForce 4 may want to be aware of this problem.

Thanks again to the members of the forum for all advice.

hows the Ti4200?

After flashing the BIOS and getting everything working properly, the Ti4200 is working very well. Gainward produces a great product, and you can get the card clocked to almost the same speeds as a Ti4400 with almost no effort with thier EXPERTool, and can increase the clock to that of a Ti 4600 with a little more effort. I am consitently getting a 10800 score on 3dMarkSE 2001 with modest clock settings. This is a significant improvement over the 1500 score I got with my old machine :)
