I don't completly understand this yet, but appently there is a HALT command in the VIA chipsets that DOES lower your CPU temp considerably.

I know what your thinking... How can just a single command lower your temp??? I was skeptical too until I tried it and to my amazement I sat there and watched my temp go down 10 degrees within two minutes. My only problem was I couldn't surf the internet for some reason.

Basicly, what you are doing is enableing a command that has been disabled. The command tells your CPU to shut down any un-needed processing until it's needed. Less processing, less temp without sacrificing performance.

I'm still looking into it and if anyone else is curious, here are some links to get you started.

BTW.. this command is easily enabled and disabled so your not changing anything that will mess your computer up. It's NOT a registry hack, it's just issueing a command directly to the CPU/Chipset.

If anyone tries this and has any luck with it, let me know. :)

Sweetness, I am gonna check it out tonight, would be killer for pre benchmark on a heavily overclocked system :) Drop it down in temp then back open her up and let her rip hehehe
