My certification training

I had training for CCNA well over 3 years ago, last year took my CCNP training course, and Right now I am studying for my CSS1 (cisco security specialist I) I don't even have my CCNA yet! I think I'm getting ahead of myself... Anyway, future training will include RHCE and MCSE (in the spring) Hopefully by then I'll have all those certifications listed and my degree.

yea, man. my advice is to definitely slow down. unless you can handle that kind of load. in my case, i'm currently taking 12 credit hours towards an MIS degree, attempting to finish up my MCSE (i think... haven't decided if i really want to put forth the rest of the $ and effort required :P ), and working 30-35 hours a week at an internship. i wouldn't say i'm burned out, but definitely grateful when the weekend rolls around (and i can do more studying.... ugh).

at any rate, that's a very ambitious plan you have hatched and i say good luck to you. just be careful not to bite off more than you can chew! i've been there before.

I got certified in ccna and ccnp (switching and routing only) two years ago. I plan to finish the last two exams later on this year. I heard that there's training that you can get from cisco but the cost is so high. Is there cheaper ways? :confused: I used cisco prep books to study and router sims.

all you need is the books and be able to use the knowledge practically. if you can do the router sims there isn't much else to be on top of rather than being able to apply it physically.

CCNA is a pain.. I'm halfway through classes to get it and it a load.. but worth it in the end :)

I would recommend using cisco press books for a study guide. The sybex books are about the same price but do not have a in depth knowledge on the materials. I think in the long run the cisco press books will help more. It's more to read but it's really worth it! There is more in to just getting certified.

Actually, the Sybex book is much better than the official CISCO books for studying for the CCNA. I used both in the college class I was in last semester. 75 percent of the CISCO books cover stuff you learn for NET+. Stuff you are not tested on for the exam.

If you can afford it, get the Bosen test software and sim. My instructor who is a CCIE said the it's the best to prepare for the tests.
