If things go as planned, in early December our company will be offering Web Hosting Services to the public. It will be running on Sun Microsystems server with an UltraSPARC-IIi Processor running OpenBSD. It will be located in the mid-west in a secure cabinet with 24 hour monitoring in a secure data center. The building complex has full battery backup and generator backup systems in place. The server is connected by a set of fully redundant DS-3 connections. We are offering this now for anyone wanting web hosting at a below-market cost. If the rates do not fit your needs contact us and I'm sure we can work something out.

Storage Space/Transfer per month/Monthly Cost
128MB@8GB =$10
512MB@32GB =$25
1024MB@128GB =$70
Co-location may also be available.

We are currently looking to see if there is a big enough market to go through with this. If are interested e-mail me at xmerclordx@attbi.com

I sincerely apologize if i can't advertize for my hosting in the FS/T forum it just seemed logical to place it here!

"One remote hole in the default install, in nearly 6 years!"

Its the most secure OS around. We will be using secure shell for access most likely -- SSH.

When was the last time you saw a Unix or an OpenBSD virus?

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html

search for "OpenBSD"

Also most *nix vulnerabilities are easily avoided by keeping up with current patches.

There will be plans later for exactly how we are going to firewall. There will be the appropriate measures taken to secure our system, software or hardware wise. Being OpenBSD, the ports that are not in use are closed it implements a portmap that does this. Which is one of the reasons there hasn't been a remote hole in 6 years.

keep in mind this is just preliminary right now but we will have all of it figured out :)
