well i bought the Aopen's Aeolus Ti4200 128mb with VIVO
its got composite in and s-video in along with both outs too
my friend bought one too with me
he hooked up his game cube
and wants to view it on his computer
what instant viewing (capture) program do you suggest that is easy to use?
we dont want to record or stuff
just want to view, simply capture but not save
Aopen comes with WinProducer but it is such a pain to use and is really made for editing
not a lot of viewing...
so any suggestions on what software i should get?

btw
not really sure whether to put this in software or hardware
it has alot to do with hardware because it uses the philips decoder chip
and things have to work specificaly with it

So far, I've only found 1 program that will show whatever your capture card is getting full screen... However, the capture software that came with my Videum shows stuff almost full screen. I'm not exactly if it will work with other capture devices or not...but it might...
Hardware of software? You mean compression? Hardware for sure!
Anything using sofware takes more power from your computer.

Thats just it...I can't remember... I had it about a year ago :/
But I don't understand that hardware software question... The only time you have the option between these is when you choose the compression(if you have an onboard compressor...)
I can try to get the capture program that came with my videum for you, but it's in a huge bundle, and will be a pain to get all the files...

If you purchased the VIVO card, it should have the necessary software to do what you want in the package.

I have never had the priviledge of setting up one of these.
I have all the cableing and the video cards to do it.
I just need a better TV in the office before I start watching TV on our computers, or using a TV as a bigger screen monitor.
The TV we have in the office was purchased new in about 1994.
It has no S connections, only analog connections.

I know for a fact VirtualDub (freeware) has a capture feature.

yeah ive used that for many times and its great
but i have 2 devices for capture that both use MS WDM drivers
so virtualdub only can recognize one and use one and cant change...
the program AMCAP that comes with my webcam doesnt have much compression options like virtualdub does
but can choose between the 2 capture devices i have
i guess the only way is to unplug one when using another...
i luv virtualdub btw
works well with kazaalite codec pack full version
good compression

Virtualdub can change. I don't remember how to do it offhand, and don't have a computer with VDub on it (still on crappy network gateway here)
