Zone Alarm as a firewall, it works great and is free.

Norton AV as your anti-virus software.

I used both Digital Patrol and The Cleaner as trojan cleaners.

Adaware Plus to remove spyware (files / cookies / reg edits)

I'll second the suggestions listed above (except for teh trojan removers.) I haven't tried them yet.

Zone Alarm is good for people who dont really want to secure their system but just want to install something that will stop MOST people.

I would go for Black Ice for starters as this gives you much more control over your firewall.

The reason Zone Alarm is free should be obvious.
