Hey guys, Here is the issue...

I bought an Abit KT7A-Raid with a 1.4 GHz AMD CPU and when I got everything together, it booted up find, and sounded great. Then a couple days later after I got win2k pro installed and everything pretty much complete, it would turn on, but I wouldn't get ANY video to the monitor.

Here is what I tried:
* New video card
* New power supply
* Unplugged everything except the video card
* Reset the CMOS
* Different monitors (the monitor I am using works w/ other comps)

I tried everything above and I am out of ideas. I think I need to buy
a new mother board or something.

I have tried the following video cards:
* ATI Radeon 7000 (I think it is a 7000, can't see the # on the card)
* Geforce 4
* Normal 8MB Trio PCI card

Every once in awhile when I am working on it, it will work, but once I power down and then power up to make sure it works for good, it doesn't When it is working, I can boot to a floppy and everything works fine. I can browse with dos, check the bios settings, everything is normal.

Also, sometimes when I hit the reset key on the case I get a flash of video on the screen. Really quick, just a blue horizontal line swipes from top to bottom.

Stats of the System:
* 512 MB Ram
* Abit KT7A-Raid w/ AMD 1.4 GHz
* Duel 7200rpm 80GB IBM drives
* HP DVD100i
* SoundBlaster Line!

I would really appreciate your help guys, and gals ;)!!!

Thanks a lot!

Btw, I also tried pulling the board out of the case and running the
comp on a wooden board in case I was shorting out the board. :/

Heh, I have the exact same MB and processor...except mine isn't RAID...

Anyway, there probably is an easier way, but I'd just reinstall windows. I mean, you just installed it, so you won't lose anything. I could be a hardware problem...but I'd suspect some form of driver conflict...

I don't have any hard drive hooked up to the comuter. I don't even get any BIOS boot up video. The only thing I have hooked up is the power supply, video card, and keyboard (along with jumpers to the case). Nothing else...

I don't know why it is doing this. :-(

(Thanks for the response!!!)

Ya, actually I tried an exact copy of another Abit KT7A-Raid and it worked fine. I have been emailing abit support and finally (after about a week) they are letting me send it back and they are going to make repair's on it. They said it was power cycling. (Whatever that means :)

I hope it is the board, then they can fix it for free and rid me of this satanic mother board!!!!!!! :D

Thanks for all the help guys! I will report back to you all and let you know
how Abit handles the board and if they fix it. (Crossing fingers)

Thanks a lot folks!!!!!!!!

just in case you were wondering, the old motherboard fell victim to faulty capacitors..

MIK3's old motherboard had its capacitors blow up, too.
