I got this from the Inquirer, it has a download link and everything:
EPOX RECENTLY announced a BIOS for its KT400 boards, branded as the 8K9A, that offers a feature for those wanting to overclock Athlons without changing the processor itself.
Check it out at everyone's favorite rumor mill, the Inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=6235).

well what are we waiting for then, lets all start praying...
Asus, MSI, Soyo, ECS, Abit...etc
you all gotta have it!
although does it break any treaties with the CPU makers?

yeah see the thing is we dont even know if it is officialy released by EPOX yet
it doesnt say it has multiplier unlocker on this page
http://www.epox.com/html/motherboard-download.asp?id=K4w33ia40V4NH30hc10xb1m0I0o32pe34WG01Oy13fc2f11di01P2L3bT04rr43r2Q&product=4o3Ui33S1eX4h30hC1X01B0m0Io3P2i3W40vx1q3X2I2i3z1I32BI21aR1&media=4u3Vk3A41eQ43HH01c0X1b0Mi03o2S2DB32f0O0a&lang=1&date=4oX33p3tZ04V3hH0C1x0B10mI03o2p3g4e3tc3o32OO2m22M3G4N3U
so we arent sure if it is true yet...

Has anyone asked themselves how a BIOS would be able to bypass cut traces in order to enable changing the multiplier? Assuming it could be done, wouldn't someone have already done it by now?

Why ask why, if it works and people test it to work then

yeah like i said
so we arent sure if it is true yet...
it is a bit hard to believe that something like a bios can unlock a cpu...
i dunno
any 1 have an epox board with that model???
bobyjo?

All I can do it hope it is true and soyo copies it! Man I could get some serious bandwidth on via the ddr from overclocking if I could drop the X

lol
i got like 300 posts from posting at www.extreme-forums.com before the merge
and keefe moved my profile over
so i guess im still about 250 short from being a grandpa here
lol
but please answer me, what do you think of the idea of soldering?
anyone who knows about electric specifications of a processor please provide us insights on wether this is good or bad
accurateimage
11-17-2002, 03:22 AM
connection is soooo small it would be near impossible to connect all the L1 bridges without goofing up, and a good solder connection would require heating up the little copper or gold whatever they are dots, would ruin the chip asap...

hmm i see
what is a good way other than using those unlocking kits?
oh btw
