I'm building a system for my friend to, and I just went with my Mobo and V-card Good and Cheap For Good Performance

MSI K7T 2 MOBO (SDram Is a hell of a lot cheaper than ddr)
MSI GeForce 4 MX 440 or 460

if ur planning a p4 setup, SDR would not be a good MEM solution, it would affect the overall performance. Go for a DDR.

Just a suggestion, A not too cheap & A not too weak setup

Asus P4B533 MOBO & Gforce 4 mx440

Yea, PC133 is a lot cheaper than PC2700 or above. The performance you get with the newer DDR mobo's is more than worth the cost difference of the memory. I would recomend the Epox 8RDA+, this is a nF2 chipset and uses DDR memory utilizing double channel DDDR access from the memory to the cpu. This makes for a better performance form the mobo. The advantage is not a great deal over one stick of DDR in that mobo at this time. Some bios upgrades coming in the next few weeks will make this much more apparant. This Epox mobo will cost you in the range to $100.00. Performance is super, stability is good, Tech Support is stellar, none can beat the Tech Support by Epox. IMO::You cannot beat this combo, pair this mobo with a GF4Ti4200 DDR128 or a Radeon 9500 Pro DDR128, and you will have a great system capable of running with the big guy's. With this, you will be looking at $300.00 investment for the mobo and vid card. The memory can be had PC2700 a good grade is in the $70.00 per 256mb stick. You will need two sticks of this. Then the total investment would be in the $450.00 area. Just a word of advise, you will need a very good powersupply to handle this setup.
