Default dial up connecting problems

I don't know where my previous message went. Problem: updated Microsoft Outlook Express. Dial up connecting not staying connected. Dial up error 630 and 629. Says no modem in PORT 1 but says we have an Ambient HaM data fax voice in PORT 4. How do we know if the modem is still connected or what do we have to do? It will stay connected half of the time in MSN internet explorer. Sometimes we have to reconnect. We need help ASAP. Thanks

Your message was moved to networking. Which is where I'm moving this one and deleting your previous one (since this one has more information)
