Hi, i've seen things on how to overclock it and flash the bios etc.. but i havent found any instructions good enough for me to figure out! I did the thing from http://www.maxdownloads.com/~ian/wizzard/ but it cut performance in half! I downloaded regular drivers and i am back to normal. If someone could put step by step instructions i'd appreciate it! :wavey:

Jason425::The Radeon 9500 Pro is locked from any OC'ing utility from working on this VPU. You have to flash the bios in order to be able to OC the Core and Memory. There is no way arround it. After you flash the bios on the card. You may OC the core and memory just the same as any other video card. Does this make you see like through mud?? I have the same video card and have flashed the bios to the warp11 bios. This proceedure can be found and download can be done via Rage3d.com's site. This warp11 is a great guy, he is making it possible to overclock all 9500's wheather pro or not. Even the 9700non pro can be done. I have gotton very good results from the Radeon 9500 Pro DDR128 that I have. I am getting over 13,000 points in 3dMark2001se with the MP1800+ cpu. I know if I had a XP2400 or better, I could be getting close to the 15,000 score. I am very happy with my Radeon card.

Here is some good articles and pics of easy
modding without soldering.

woh

this whole thing advanced so fast!!
its like freebie for grabs and everyone wants a piece of it

anyways
its really cool with the no soldering
cause that soldering thing really scares me
if that resistor gets in contact with the solder too long, it might fry and wont work
so the whole thing is dangerous and tricky

its best to do it on the software level to enable 8 pipelines which the new RivaTuner will do

cant wait!!!

when it is confirmed that the software can do the same thing, i might sell my Ti4200 and get that!

The best and easiest way to convert a ATI Radeon 9500 Pro DDR128 to be fully OC'able is to visit the Rage3d.com site and find the Warp11 thread.
He has a file to download that makes a bootable floppy and contains the new bios, flasher engine and the original bios.
This way you can flash the bios to an OC'able one.
At some time if you need to flash the bios back to the original.
The original bios is there for you to flash back to.
No need to save the old bios when flashing the new bios.
This is the proceedure I used and I can vouch that this works great.
No anomioles, tearing, and I can go as high as 350 core and 318 memory before I start getting flaking out from the video card.
Still no lockups, just flaking out.
I back off until the screen is clean, run bench marking software, I get over 13,000 score.
I think this is a good score with using a MP1800+ processor.

BobyJo, did you ran into problems by keeping the speed at 350 core and 318 memory? I'm just afraid for the card, i mean I can't afford another 250 box. Right now, i have it at 300 core and 285 memory, I'm wondering how high i can go without the graphic card to suffer ill effects in the long run.

No I have no problems at this speed.
I am running this speed 24x7 now with no problems.
The best way to see the limits of your vid card is to go up about 5mhz at a time while playing a great game.
Pick a game that has a lot of different scenes and screen sizes.
"Return to Castle Wolfenstein" is a good choice to test the video card.
Set the video at 1024x768x32 with all options set to high.
See how the video card performs in fps, tearing, lockups etc. Keep going up the 5
degrees at a time until you reach one of the above etc. Then back off about 5 degrees until the video is great.
That is where your card performs the best.
Memory set too high, will cause tearing and amoneles before the core causes lockups.
Every video card may be different from another card, so don't judge your card by someone else's.
