"Maxtor has come a long way in the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) business. With the purchase of Quantum, makers of the Fireball series of hard drives, they have grown into a more competitive company. Serial ATA has come out, but most motherboards do not support it natively. Instead, they use a separate controller for the Serial ATA hard drives. It won't be long before it becomes the new standard for hard drives, but IDE drives won't go away that easily. The high end servers still go with SCSI drives, while the small servers would go for IDE instead. That said, let's look at Maxtor's DiamondMax Plus D740X ATA133. It may no longer be the top Maxtor drive, but it still does very well."
