nVidia has clearly stated the FX is not intended for the mainstream but instead for the enthusiasts. Meaning they are giving up on the speed race and concentrating on graphics quality and cinematics.
IMO, a move that will be the death of them if they don't watch out.

nah
not many games lag with that kinda of speed
the better graphics allow better experience of gaming, quality wise
and once most of the games are up to that higher standard, they can work on speed once again

Ok more test results in... so far it looks like you have to be a total tard or a die hard nvidia fan to buy this thing... I can snag oem 9700 pro cards for $285 online. That makes the fx come in at around $115 more and the thing is supposed to sound like a dust buster *LOL* Man I really had my hopes up for a sick card... looks like I will be waiting for the r350... shame on you nvidia...

if its that hot, does it mean it wont be a good overclocker as there isnt much headroom to work with?

I'm gonna hold off on saying bye-bye to nVidia just yet. They have always been good on optimizing drivers and they still have the NV35 up thier sleeves... They MAY have a trump card yet. It's a wait and see situation for me.

Hey Guys I have a customer that asked me to quote a P4 3ghz and a big box, gaming system.
What is the best of the mobo's I should look at for this customer?
I know about the Abit IT7-MAX and the Epox 4PEA+.
I know accurateimage and CiKoTiC have or are using the P4 systems and probably could shed some light on this for me.
Thanks BJ
I am gonna give the wife my system less the vid card and build another. I have been looking at other nForce2 boards. I can't come up with anything better than the ASUS that I have alreade. So I suppose I will go with the A7N8X/dx again. I purchased the Thermalright A6000A silver case already
I also think I will go with the XP2400.
Also if you want a real good compareson of the GF-FX and the Radeon9700 Pro. Read the compareson at::

I just sold three systems, and all AMD, the Intel is a ???
The best mobo I can come up with is the Gigabyte GA-81NXP w/hypertherm tech and the price is $250.00 my cost.
http://www.ocworkbench.com/2003/gigabyte/sinxp1394/sinxp1394-1.htm
I found these at 2 venders at this price and one at $150.00 but was sold out.
No idea of when restock.
I have three quotes to give the fellow so I am doing that now.
See ya

Polpot is correct, the IT7-Max2 is a heck of board. That would be my choice if I wasn't using RAMBUS memory.

Thank You, I don't think the other guys has even looked at this board and knows what features this thing has.
This mobo wholesale is $250.00 actually more than that.
But just a few dollars.
I read about it and went to some of the big boys hi ene gaming system builders and Game PC uses this mobo exclusively in all thier top end gaming systems.
This guy that was asking about the big box P4, just emailed me.
He wants this thing so bad it hurts.
I offered to sell him the big box for $2000.00, he is asking if I would furnish the mobo, cpu, cooling, case, power supply.
Then allow him to add the other componants later.
I am gonna have to xplain that half the system is setup and burnin and all that stuff we have to do to tweak everything into working right.
Can't do that without memory, vid card, hard drive etc.
It's all got to be there. IMO:
