View Full Version : antec 1080 "card guide"
Ok, this seems like, and probably is a stupid question. I recently started getting some of the pieces for my new box. I decided on the antec 1080. For those of you with the same (or similar chiefteck case) my question is this....
At the front of the case there is a plastic bracket&.... Pulled it out checked the manual.. "Card guide"..... now I've looked all up and down the damn case and there's no real place to put it. Am I missing something? I don't get the point of it. If some one could enlighten me (other then telling it's a guide for my cards) I would greatly appreciate it.

Humm, are you refering to the guides that are in the bottom of the case?
not the fan bracket but the purple "thing" in the back ground.

These are case fan holders.
You put a 80mm case fan in that one, and one in the hd holder box, two in the rear holders and if the side panel has a holder there.
That is a total of 5 80mm case fans for your use to keep everything cool.

Actually the ones he is reffering to is the little tiny retangle shaped ones, those were used WAY back in the day for giant isa slot cards :) Cards so long they required extra support *LOL* Still cannot figure out why they put them in there, I have not seen an isa card for years :)
Thanks fo r thie info AI, good to know that im not an idiot its just that i dont date back that far....

My buddy was like remeber what an isa slot card is..?? I about died that my new hightech case had holders for them. Even my latest aluminum xpider case has them, actually all antec style cases have them tha I know of.

There are pci cards that are that long, and can use the brace. These cards are usualy scsi raid cards, I have one and it is a beast of a card.
The divide the case in two quite well.
