I was running 3d mark 2003

after the 2nd test my screen went black hen windows warped screen

it said windows has detected and recovered from a device failure
is this microsofts way of telling me to buy a new gfx card

i wanan bench mark my comp!

nope, not a windows fault (for once) just more substandard ATI drivers, me thinks. See if they have a newer driver than the one your using and try Direct X 9 if not installed.

Promethus::Download the Catalyst drivers w/control panel and install them. You may download this software from www.rage3d.com
All the drivers will work with the Radeon vid cards from the 9700 and down to yours at least.
While you are downloading the 3.0 Catalyst drivers be sure to download the Rage3dTweaker also.
This is the best tweaking tool for Radeon cards made.
After installing the drivers, install the control panel, (sometimes the control panel is encluded with the drivers).
Then install the Rage3dTweaker.
After this, open the desktop vid card properties and there you will see the tweaker tab.
Open this tab and start uping the core and memory about 1-2 points at a time until the vid card starts to flake out.
Then back off a little until the screen is stable and the performance is as good as you wish.
This is a good start to OC'ing your system.
