The box is deceptively heavy. This is a very good sign. This means that quite a bit of material was used in the construction of the speakers. The box is not all that large either, so with it being fairly heavy, a user gets the initial impression of solidity. This is a very well founded impression. The subwoofer is of medium density fiberboard, which in itself weighs a good chunk. The amplification circuitry and components also make up a good portion of that weight.
