I recently installed a CenDyne 48x12x48 CD-RW in my friend's computer. I've actually installed the exact same cd-rw in two other computers with no problems. But this time, whenever I start nero, if I choose the other cd-rom on the computer as the source drive, the place to select the destination drive is blank. I tried putting the cd-rw in my computer, and it works fine (so I'm guessing that there's nothing wrong with the drive itself.) I was thinking that the next time I go over to my friend's house, I can try putting in a different cd-rom, and checking if nero will be able to use that. But other than that, I have no idea what else to do. Does anyone know what else I can do to figure out the problem? Thanks in advance.

Don't know but you may want to update the firmware in the new drive http://www.cendyne.com/download_list.asp?Download_category=Firmware don't believe it would cause this problem but it may. Also is this the same version of nero you've used on the other computers. Older version of Nero may not recognise newer drive. Happens from time to time. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I'll definately try that link. I actually used the version of nero that came bundled with the cd-rw. So I'm assuming that the version of nero on that computer supports the hardware.

Yhea if it came with it it should work, sometimes people try old versions with new gear and it just wont' work. Whats the other drive and some other specs of the computer if ya got 'em.

The computer is a Dell, so I have no idea what the specs are. I will try to check out the model number when I look at his computer again. But when I set the CD-RW to master, and the other CD-ROM as slave, it only recognized one drive. When I did it the other way around, it shows both drives in "my computer," so I kept it like that. In fact, the CD-RW can actually play music cd's, etc. I just seem to experience problems when in nero. I'm pretty sure nero was installed correctly, because I reinstalled it about three times just to make sure. To answer your questions, yes, one is set to master (the cd-rom) and the other is set to slave (the cd-rw).
