My display has light gray horizontal shadows that extend out from the sides of any graphics or text that is displayed on the screen. I have already eliminated the crt and cable and reinstalled the vid drivers. I have also changed drivers to a "standard PCI graphics adaptor", all to no avail. The problem also shows up in DOS mode. What I don't know is if the problem exists in the onboard video, the agp bus, the MB, or is it a power supply issue. The system is an HP pavilion P3 733 mhz with nvidea/vanta on board vid. Any suggestions?

If it shows up in dos it would almost have to be the onboard graphics chip. About the only thing you can do is put in a PCI graphics card (If it has on board video you more than likely will not have an AGP slot). Or replace the whole motherboard. That's the downfall of integrated products. One fail, all get replaced for the most part.

Thanks for the info. I do have an AGP slot and the MB will default to it if there is a card present. That will be the route I will try. If that doesn't work then I will replace the MB and CPU. I can use the new graphics card on it and now I will have an upgraded system. Works for me!
