see specs below ^_^.. for a while it woudl normaly run around 120 and rise maybe 10 deg under load but after awhile it started getting much hotter.. around 134 .. I had Silver compound on it (Speeze Copper Core 5600-6100rpm) unfortunatly i lost the tube and as a last minute resort i used the Silcon compound.. it seemed to do alot better maintaining @118-122 deg.. but after a few days it shot right back up to 134 or so.. I ahve yet to try lapping the base as i havnt gone to get sandpaper to do it with.. and im considering getting a water cooling system/case. Ventalation: Open case (never been able to keep the side on without it making it to almost critical 140.. any other sujestions. Might go as far as buying a higher rated heatsink.. but the only reason i can think of for the shift is the cooling compound is basicly getting heated off.. would i be right in that assumuption ?

lapping is fun as results can be quite distinguished
i lapped my Vantec AeroFlow V4A-C7040
it dropped 2 degrees celcius
but i would suggest a new heatsink such as Thermalright's SK-7
AI and a lot of people seems to be having some prime times with their comps
a good performer thats comes with a good price

Odly i cant get that companies website to come up ATM.. I took the Heatsink off and tooked at it.. At first glance it looked rather slanted. come to find out it was.. i put a perfectly balanced bayonet (throwing accuacy 30 yards) and layed it to the hilt ... of cource i ran the blade down it as well. rather wavie to.. Dont think Lapping it will help one bit.. the tilt was enough to push the compound from the side that hooks first to the other side and off the CPU.. :mad:

to bad there isnt a Emoticon for drooling! ^_~ I redid the compund yet again.. it idled around 125... then i had a stroke of genious (accualy one ive used b4) Turned a good strong fan to the open case its sitting preaty @109-110 CPU usage even droped a good bit for a while bottomed at 20%, of cource when i move the 1st Aid monitor to advanced it jumps right back up to 98-100% but hey ^_^

What you did with the extra fan is a temporary fix.
The real fix for this problem is to get a good hs.
I recommend the Thermalright line the SK7,SLK800 either one with a good 80mm fan will keep any cpu cool.
I use these hs's and the temps of my system is running in the 30c area, low 30c idle and hi 30c playing games.
You will not need to do any lapping on this hs.
It is a mirror when you remove it from the box.

yeah thats cool
SLK800 = uber air cooling
although you have to find out if those big hsf will fit your mobo or not

The Uber is good, the new 1002a final is better. Bootup times and shutdown times are about half the time for the Uber bios. Cpu temps are down about 3-5c below the uber also. I think the 1002a is the best bios that has come out for the deluxe mobo as yet.

yeah
i wasnt talking about Uber bios if you were thinking that i was talking about it
is Uber Bios based on 1001?

No the uber bios was made from the 1002 beta bios. The 1002a final is a better bios. IMO::Much faster bootup and shutdown, and a few degrees cooler cpu operation.

SLK800 = uber air cooling
bobyjo, "uber alles" means above everything else in germen
the maker of uber bios used that to call his bios as the meaning is "superior"
and i used uber air cooling as in one of the best aircooler there is

I understand where you are coming from with the term.
I just wanted to say the Uber bios was not founded on the 1001 bios.
It was founded on the 1002beta bios.
It is very close to the 1002a final bios in features, xcept the final has a lower core temp and faster boot up and down.

yes yes we get it for the third time
thank you...
the new bios for epox 8rda+ doesnt seem to be a good one
3/3/03
cik, no need to get it if things are working fine for you
because there are some problems with soundstorm sound with that bios
it only changes the way bios updates CPU clock when you save stuff
nothing special or spectacular
