SiS usually provides a good alternate platform. Sometimes, like in the case of their 655 chipset, they proved to be the fastest platform as it was the only one of its kind that supported dual DDR333 and DDR400 for the P4 CPU when launched. SiS happily saw a good number of motherboard manufacturers like ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI making boards on this chipset. Then Intel came up with 800MHz bus CPUs and the Canterwood and Springdale chipsets followed. Today, we take a look at SiS’ first attempt at the 800MHz CPU with their 648FX chipset.
