Default Windows XP: Unknown Data Usage

I am currently running Windows XP on a 180gb hard drive = 167gb in real data space.
The problem is i just did a fresh install with a new computer, wiped the hard drive clean, and i only added 114gb of data onto the drive.
However, the problem is it says i only have 16.6 gb of free space, that leaves roughly 37gb if unaccounted space, and i don't believe Windows XP takes up 37gb.
Thank you for your help

Just to make sure...Windows does report that the volume capacity is 167 GB, right? It's possible that you didn't make the partition the entire drive, or something...

Also make sure that your BIOS supports the new larger hard drives. Many of the motherboards that aren't the latest get funky with out-dated BIOS's and hard drives over 130 gigs.

Check and see what size your page file is, and also check your system restore size. System restore can take up a huge chunck of dedicated space if left on it's own.
