CRT's are still better than LCD's in image quality. LCD's are great because they save a boat load of space on your desktop.

Samsung SyncMaster CRT's are great, inexpensive monitors.

i hear that lcd's are easier on the eyes, they lower your power bill, don't produce as much heat, etc.

I got rid of my LCD and went back to a monitor. The Image quality just wasn't there for me on the LCD.

As far as LCD's being easier on the eyes.. yes they are if your used to using a low quality monitor under 60hz office lights. LCD's have no flicker associated with low refresh rates thus they ease eye strain. However, if you have a good quality monitor set to a high refresh rate, you avoid the eye strain.

As soon as the image quality on LCD's increase, I'm gonna switch back. Until then, I'm gonna stick with a good quality monitor.

The best of anything you can buy is still the HD projector. What do those run now, like 20 grand still? Resolution for resolution projectors are sharper than anything else. Connecting to the computer would be a pain but is definately possible. Hmmm. I think I'm off-topic. Oh well. Try and stop me! >:)

it depends on if you play alot of games or not
if so, stick with an CRT, otherwise you will regret it

NEC, Sony are good choices for good quality CRTs

Samsung for decent yet inexpensive ones

I like Samsung's Syncmaster CRts better than pretty much everything else I've seen - my wife and I both use Samsung monitors at home and they have superb image quality for the money. If you've got the cash, Sonys are even better - they're the top of the line as far as I'm concerned. But I would say best bang for the buck in my mind would be Samsung.

NEC is top of the line
better than Sony

Samsung is good for a budget monitor
basicaly all consumers like it
while gamers favour viewsonic, NEC, and sony

Actually, Samsungs are excellent for gaming or anything else you want to use them for. Image quality is among the best. In fact, if you do a little searching on the net, you'll see that they rate either first or in the top 5 of all monitors.

At 150 bucks, you can't beat the 19" SyncMaster 955MB. I've used a SyncMaster 900p for about 3 years now and it's performed awsome. I have a 955MB on order and should get it in a few days.

just wait till PLED's screens come out (PLASTIC LIGHT EMITTING DIODE - pixels are smaller then normal CRT pixels)

i just recently started using a Sony Triniton, and I swear, when I hooked up my old monitor for my dual display setup, i almost thought it was broken it was so fuzzy compared to the triniton. It is a 19" Samsung, only a year old. just my $0.02

I dunno about the old Samsung's but the 955MB is awsome. At .20 dot pitch, nothing is fuzzy. And I've compaired it with the Trinitrons and the Trinintron looks like crap next to the 955MB.

crt's are better in image quality, finer, more crisper images, and do not "ghost" when playing fast moving games etc..

the best crt monitor out there right now would have to be the samsung syncmaster 957mb because it has .20mm dot pitch and high resolution all at a low price
