Default Members List

I cant find any posts at all for most of the people on the members list. Everyone posts 1 or 2 messages and then is done. I think there needs to be a plicy or something say something to the effect of not averaging posts of at least like 1 every two or three months would totally cut down on the size of it.

yeah that sounds like a good idea, that way all of the people that dont use their account wouldnt be taking up space on the server.

So it's a problem if someone signs up and posts a couple threads and doesn't come back for a long while?

I would think the concern would be in finding the answer as to why they haven't come back, not how or when to get rid of them.

Policy of how many posts you make? Are you trying to kill your board? I lean toward the fact they didn't either get the answer they were looking for or didn't feel this was the site for them either way you looking at the wrong thing here.

Netsmog is a decent site and I frequent often to see what's new and if I can help or opinionate in some regard. This site though I like it doesn't apeal to everyone much as you'd like it too. Just the way it is.

If an account is inactive for 6 months ya drop it. But to suggest you have to post X in X amount of time to be considered a member well I'd drop out of here quick if you start saying how often I need to post.

Popularity is a given when people are comfortable and enjoy where they are, not directed and lead. Don't worry so much, it keeps the gray hairs to a minimum.  ;D

Just my 3.5 Cents

I also agree with wizbones completely. Occaisionally members do go several wks/mos without posting for various reasons. Why should they be penalized ?  Why should they have to re-register and lose any seniority in the quantity of post they may have had previously ?
What we need is more posters - not less. Need to find out why none stick around here.
There has been several posts on this topic in the past and should still be on here. Hardly any females post here, although quite a few register, then never come back.
Currently 473 members are registered, but only about a dozen post. The 473 is about 125 more now than when I registered, they disappeared, why ?
Here is a couple of links on this topic, wouldn't hurt to review them.

Should obscenities be filtered on Netsmog ?

wizbones has some good points but you have to think about what happens if they dont want to come back.  Now you have users on the server that arent going to be used anymore and are taking up space.  Two weeks isnt a good time line though.  it should be more like 2-3 months before deletion or thought of deletion should occur.  I think that if no posts are made in 2 months that on of the moderators or the admins should email that user to see if they still want to be a member or if they dont mind being deleted.

What ! Hotmail delete an account and miss a chance to email all that spam and porno email ? Nah, hotmail will keep your account for 6 mo's then if you go back you can re-activate it from the in-active status.

maybe, here's an idea...

how about a poll type thing that members can participate in as much often as they waht that tells moderators what they can do to improve and what they like and dislike about it, etc.
