i have an amd 2600+ barton cpu. It has a 333mhz fsb. My bios is set on the 133fsb. And it runs it at that. By the way i have a biostar kt400 chipset is M7VIT. I know that 133mhz is doublepumped making it 266. But thats the problem. And it only goes up to 165mhz. So in the motherboard manual it says change the jumper on the board from the default, which is 133mhz, to 166mhz. I did that and turned on the computer and nothing happens. I think that maybe i got ripped off and it isn't a barton. Is there a way to tell if you have a barton in windows xp pro? Anyone know how to fix this problem or know what im doing wrong?

Jgrant::There is a software called CPUID that will tell you what processor you have.
You need to set the mobo to 166fsb by the jumper.
This is double =333 there is where you need to be.
I am not familiar with your mobo but bios settings need to be set after all the jumpers on the mobo has been set as needed for your application.

GBRRICCI::Your cpu is locked at 266 which is mobo setting of 133.
In bios=x2 266fsb.
You do not have to unlock your processor to get it to run at default speed.

A similiar thing happened when we put together MIK3's new mobo/proc. He bought an MSI based on the nForce2 chipset and a Thouroughbred 2400+. The multiplier is 15 and the FSB clock is supposed to be 133, but the mobo wouldn't recognize it at all (no boot) 133, only 100. We kept switching back and forth, (MIK3: what like 20 or 30 times?) and soon it finally started. It also happened to me on my 1.0GHz. I think you should just try switching back and forth for a while - I have no clue why.
